The Ile d'Oleron faces La Rochelle and is connected to the mainland via a 3km bridge.
One of the largest of the islands dotted along France's Atlantic coast, the Ile d'Oleron boasts 90km of coastline as well as immense fine, sandy beaches and well-preserved towns such as Saint-Georges d'Oleron and Dolus d'Oleron, which has been developped around its attractive old town area. The island also offers a diverse landscape, complete with sand dunes, forests and vineyards, salt marshes and oyster farms.

Other activities

A wide variety of leisure activities are available to visitors staying on Ile d'Oleron, including horse riding, water sports, parachuting, a 9-hole golf course, cycle trails, tennis and mini-golf.
