Located between Geneva and Chamonix in the Haut Giffre valley, Samoens (alt. 700m), is a village typical of Haute-Savoie classified by the 'Monuments Historiques' for its beautifully preserved architecture and history. A genuine mountain village of chocolate box chalets and magnificent scenery, Samoens is centred around its 11th century church, with its shady square and covered market halls which come alive every Wednesday.

Whilst in Samoens, visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including watersports such as rafting and canoe-rafting, canoë-kayaking, river swimming, water-skiing and jet-skiing; sightseeing by helicopter, rambling on 450km of signposted trails and mountaineering with trails to suit all levels, climbing, pot-holing, mountain biking (400 km of signposted trails), canyoning, a swimming pool, tennis, archery, golf on water, games for children, a 2.4km fitness trail and horse-riding with ponies available for ypunger children, as well as a local cinema and nightclubs and restaurants to suit a range of tastes and budgets.
