Built on the side of the mountain, Font-Romeu (1750m) was a favourite of painter Salvador Dali and the small town still retains remnants of its glamorous past. Its famous grand hotel, though now converted into apartments, still sits high above, overlooking the town. The resort is also known as a high-altitude training ground for Olympic athletes, and remains a lively spa town all through the warm summer months and colder winter period
