25km from Perpignan, LE BARCARES is a great holiday destination, thanks to its lakeside location on the Catalan coast, at the foot of the Pyrenees. Situated between the Mediterranean and a salt water lake, LE BARCARES is divided into several areas: "la Coudalere", "Grande Plage", "Presqu'Ile", "Le Port", and the beach itself. Traditional and picturesque, comfortable and calm or lively, offering a wide array of activities, each area of the resort offers its own uniqye charm and appeal. The resort has been awarded both the "Pavillon Bleu" label (for the standard of its beaches and port) and the "Station Kid" label (dedicated activities for children), and basks in a wonderful mediterranean climate of blue skies, high summer temperatures and refreshing sea breezes, with little or no rain.

Practical information and leisure

The resort is well-equipped and offers all necessary modern facilities and amenities, including shuttle bus service operating to/from the train station and throughout the resort, doctors and pharmacies, nurseries and beach clubs for children from 2 years and over and teenagers, a swimming pool and horse-riding centre, plus restaurants and supervised beaches from June to September.

Sports and leisure

A wide variety of activties are available in the resort, including:
* Watersports such as sailing, wind-surfing, catamaran, surfing, diving, water-skiing, canyoning, rafting and fishing

Tennis, horse-riding, mountain biking and bike trails, boules, swimming pool, mini-golf, and forest walks.

Children can take part in most of these activities with supervision through the many beach clubs and nurseries, mainly open during July and August.

Spa treatments at the Thalassatherapy centre

Small train runs for one side of the resort to the other, permitting the whole familly to relax and enjoy the sites of different areas of the resort.

Summer cinema, festival bullrings open in July and August, nightclubs etc.
