Gateway to the Vanoise National Park, Tignes is a lively resort throughout the summer months (especially during July and August), and the Val Claret area of the resort is conveniently located to offer direct links to the summer ski slopes on the Grande Motte Glacier (3000m).

A variety of activities and amenities are available in and around Tignes, including an 18-hole golf course (the highest in Europe at an altitude of 2100m), plus mini-golf, paragliding, mountain biking trails, climbing, fitness trail, table tennis, a range of aquatic activities on the lake in the heart of the resort, such as wind-surfing, canoëing, kayaking, and sailing, plus whitewater sports and fishing on the Isere river. 7 ski schools are open during the summer season offering skiing and snowboarding instruction on the slopes of the Grande Motte glacier (20km of slopes at 2700m to 3450m in altitude), and the resort also offers several spa centres, each with a variety of facilities.
